I started my professional life as a musician
and teacher. During my training, I began to struggle with my physical health
which got to the point of losing the use of my hands and arms through
practising for long hours in the wrong way. Aged 20 I faced the
end of my musical career and life as I had known it up until then. This led me
to begin a journey which has culminated in me developing Healing
from Within. As I was going through all the orthodox treatment and
investigations, I kept being told that it was just something that would
take its time. Not content with being a passive observer in my health,
I started exploring how I used my body, mind and emotions in every
day life. I noticed several things that led me to inspiring healing
in my body. The first was that all my parts had to operate individually
even though they are all fundamentally connected. So… if I
wanted to lift my arm, I had to do so without lifting my shoulder
and so on. I found I could alter my perception of the pain I was
in by altering my attachment to the thoughts around it…..so
if my arms were registering intense pain, I let them be painful
whilst maintaining the rest of me as “fine”.
What then began happening was that I started to look at life differently
and having completely changed my diet, my clothes (no zips, buttons
etc) and my lifestyle, I was able to complete my studies in fine
style!!. Also I was forever curious and awake as to my body and its
potential should it not be nourished and used correctly. Over the
years this journey continued through training as a craniosacral
therapist, a soul response therapist, a herbalist and looking into
other healing modalities that used the natural medicine within all
of us and that which is connected to the Earth.
I
specialise in helping people listen to the messages behind what
their body is experiencing symptomatically and inter-connecting
and interacting the WHOLE of the human Being, in physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual. Through my touch I explore what our body
is holding. A question I often am asked is how can touch heal
the more subtle rhythms in our body? Othodox medicine has been
around for approximately 170 years, how did our ancesters survive
before that? They practiced similar medicine, it is our brains
and hands that created the machines now used to measure our health
in hospitals, so the fact is that we as human beings are more
powerful than is often accessed. It is not a question of opting
out of orthodox methods of treatment, it is rather about knowing
when to use it and how. A lot of people see me wanting their G.P’s
to be informed and I always offer the option of keeping them involved,
I may pick up something that needs a blood test or scientific
exploration and examination. I seek to use appropriate-ness in
all that I undertake…..I am a strong believer in being co-creative,
no man or woman is an island. True Health is when all these different
facets of ourselves have a rightful place in our lifes that we
may be able to be all that we can be in every moment of every
breath we breathe.
I am fully insured and registered to practice the
modalities mentioned with the CSTA, which is also a member of
the ICM and BCMA.
